Make It a Habit to Evaluate Your Previous Writing Efforts

You might just be in for a surprise!

As writers, we often focus on the present and the future. We’re always thinking about our next project, our next deadline, or our next goal. But it’s important to take the occasional step back and evaluate our past writing efforts.

Why? For several reasons.

Insight

Reviewing our efforts serves as an excellent reminder of where we’ve been and what we’ve accomplished. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and forget about all we have achieved. Looking back can be a wonderful treat, especially when we uncover better results than we remembered.

I had that experience today. I’ve been debating the best way to create an editorial calendar, and I ran across a blog recommending Notion. I’ve had the app for a while but only used it occasionally to grab notes or capture random article ideas. I decided to play around with the calendar feature, inputting several things I’m working on as well as other projects I completed this year. To my surprise, I accomplished far more on the writing font than I realized.
